For the first week of May our approach to the pose of the month, Eka Pada Koundinyasana, is a little different. Instead of a specific alignment focus we’ll be leading you to explore arm balances in general.
All the poses so far this year were selected with purpose. We intended to build not only your physical strength but your confidence, your daring and your playfulness, so that by the time we got to this moment you would be wiling and able to rise to the challenge.
Week one, therefore, is all about exploring the transition from Bakasana (Crow) to Eka Pada Koundinyasana, the bold pose you see above. Relish pushing your boundaries. Confront the ego and the inner critic both. Put all expectations aside and will yourself to try variations you previously believed were beyond the scope of your ability.
You might just surprise yourself…
