For 2016 we are honoring a yogi from our community every month. This October we invited Felicity Gifford to demonstrate our pose, ardha salamba sarvangasana or supported shoulderstand, and share her yoga journey. Namaste, Felicity! Thank YOU for your skill, patience, and sweetness!
For years I resisted yoga even while having a strong meditation practice in my daily life.
Once or twice when I did attempt a yoga class, it didn’t resonate. I obviously wasn’t ready to commit to a regular practice of this kind.
About three years ago while growing increasingly tired and disenchanted with a gym based exercise program, I happened to meet one of the women involved in the beginning days of Yoga 216. She convinced me to take a class with Nicole…
The rest is now a lovely history of amazing teachers and many great classes.
My practice, flexibility and strength have slowly improved.
I have been most surprised by the more subtle aspects of these improvements and just how they have impacted my daily life off the mat.
Probably the most important and noticeable thing has been just how powerful the attention to breath can be. Making an effort to breathe with attention throughout class has changed the way I breathe all the time. As well my sense of balance and coordination is so much better.
Yoga 216 puts a smile on my face and lightens my step every time I am able to come to class! I would like to thank all the teachers at Yoga 216 for your skill, patience and sweetness.
