CALLING ALL YOGA TEACHERS
Do you feel like your teacher training left you wanting or needing more anatomy knowledge? Do you crave to know more about how the body works in the poses you are teaching? Do you want to help your students modify for injury but don’t know where to start?
If YES, then Yoga 216’s Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers is just what you’ve been looking for!
FAYT will take you through musculoskeletal anatomy joint by joint to unpack the structures, actions, range of motion, and common injuries for each joint. We’ll address how to apply this knowledge directly to asana to make your practice and teaching of yoga more precise, more effective, and just plain safer!
How does the program work?
We begin by learning how basic movements in the body are created. Then we apply that knowledge by analyzing asana through a kinesiological lens. From there we begin to assess why asana challenge different bodies in the same, and in different ways. We’ll also give you tools to modify any asana for various situations, including of course several common musculoskeletal injuries. The course wraps up with sequencing tools that will help you to design not only powerful group classes, but also smart progressions for your private clients.
FAYT APPRENTICE PROGRAM
Over the years of offering FAYT, we’ve watched as our work-exchange participants benefit more richly from the program, because they were part of our studio team while learning to bring anatomy into their teaching. So we decided to turn our in-house FAYT program into an apprenticeship, with even more mentorship and support geared towards boosting your teaching and yoga “biz” skills!
We’re thrilled to offer this 6-month apprenticeship officially for the first time in January 2018. For 6 months, be part of a select cohort of six yoga teachers welcomed to train and grow with the Yoga 216 family!
The FAYT Apprenticeship is designed to help you broaden + hone your teaching skills with:
– anatomy knowledge you can integrate immediately into class planning and teaching
– client management skills, including key communication and teaching tips that keep students coming back
– semi-private teaching practice with feedback (community class at Yoga 216)
– business of yoga training, applicable to solo yoga biz or teaching within a studio community
– ongoing mentorship opportunities after program completion
The FAYT Apprenticeship is offered at no financial cost to you, and includes:
– Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers program – 60 hour anatomy training, weekly lessons for approximately 4 months ($1475 value)
– Mentored teaching – for 6-8 weeks, teach a weekly community class at Yoga 216 with feedback from your peers + teachers
– “Business of Yoga” and client management training – 2-4 lessons at the outset and conclusion of the program
– First hand experience with studio operation and client care – weekly studio shift for the duration of the program
Are you ready to dive in fully to your teaching?
WHAT OUR PAST TRAINEES SAY
The FAYT course taught at Yoga 216 gave me the solid foundation in anatomy that I always wanted but didn’t get from either my 200-hr or 300-hr teacher trainings. It gave me the tools to teach more precisely in my group classes and to dive much deeper with my private students in order to address their goals, “trouble” areas and to optimize their alignment. This is a great training for anyone who wants to start having meaningful conversations with their students and with other teachers about yoga and movement. -Jesal P.
As yoga teachers people trust us with their bodies. They look to us to guide them through their practice safely, and yet my 200 hour training only included a measly two days of basic anatomy (which I instantly forgot). The functional anatomy program at 216, by contrast, has helped me get a real grasp of this stuff and how to apply it in class. The bottom line is, it’s steadfastly worked to obliterated my ‘impostor syndrome’ over the six months, and turned me into an actual yoga teacher. One with knowledge that surpasses most others fresh from their 200 hour trainings as well as some with years of teaching under their belts. -Esme B.
The Functional Anatomy training has profoundly shifted my practice and my teaching. I lacked confidence in my anatomical knowledge after my 200hr training and the Functional Anatomy training has boosted my esteem by leaps and bounds. In my opinion the training is invaluable as a teacher and serious yoga practitioner. Nicole and Esther are highly skilled and knowledgeable and they are eager to share their wisdom. -Sarah M.
I have just completing the Functional Anatomy Training at Yoga 216 and I feel like I have a new prescription in my eyes for body mechanics and how we all uniquely move within a safe range of motion effectively for long term health. We are all so unique, it is important to understand this philosophy on all levels, especially when teaching yoga. It’s about finding individual freedom in the body, intelligently; one size does not fit all. Nicole and Esther are sincere, effective and dedicated instructors and co-creators in this incredible program. -Cynthia K.
