The practice of yoga is an ongoing thing – a lifelong process of learning that we feel privileged to share with our fellow yogis at Yoga 216. Once a month we like to ask our students to tell us about their experiences, so that we can celebrate their progress and provide a platform to impart some of their innate wisdom at the same time. This week it’s Daniel James, who first joined us in April 2014 and has amassed 20 hours of mat time since then!
What has your yoga practice taught you and how has it changed?
It’s taught me a degree of discipline (to get me out of bed in the morning!), as well as teaching me to be at peace with a greater awareness of self. Starting the day with such a good workout physically and mentally sets me up perfectly.
What is your favorite pose and why?
Bow Pose. Great for my core, opening my chest and alignment of shoulders and back.
What advice would you give somebody who’s curious about starting yoga?
Dive in. It’s amazing how quickly you improve with regular practice and mentally it will have a really positive impact on your outlook.
