Meet SmartMat, the siri-like virtual yoga assistant.
Using specially calibrated sensors that connect to your smartphone or tablet, it provides you with feedback on your personal yoga practice using audio and visual cues. It also learns about you, your body and your practice as you progress and makes recommendations accordingly, helping you find your ‘perfect pose.’
Understandably it’s proving controversial among the yoga teaching community, particularly the In-Class Assist mode which intuits which pose you are in during class and gives you audio pointers along the way.
A useful tool for developing your practice? Or totally un-yogic and yet another example of the way technology is eroding human relationships? Watch this video and make up your own mind…
