For 2016 we are honoring a yogi from our community every month. This May we invited Denise Bosco to demonstrate our pose, Paripuna Navasana (Full Boat Pose), and share her yoga journey. Namaste, Denise! Thank you for your beautiful tribute!
Yoga, what do you mean to mean to me?
Let me count the ways.
You are kind, supportive, non-judgmental and inclusive. You offer space to be me, you include me in a community and remind me we are all part of a larger universe. You present the magic, wonder and possibility of each day.
You help me connect to my core, both physically and internally. You remind me of the power of the breath. You quiet the noise and the negative voice even if only for a few minutes. You offer balance. You stimulate my creativity and renew my energy.
You remind me to be present, that showing up is always rewarded, that the work can be as simple or as hard as finding awareness, that learning to be still and not over-trying is already something, that even when you think you are just going through the motions you may suddenly become aware of growth.
You teach me to have joy in the journey we travel together, without concern for the destination. No need for self doubt, no competition, no special equipment required.
You are a necessity, an indulgence and an adventure. Yoga 216 is my oasis and my garden.
